Silicone nipple covers are reusable if you wash them after every wear: up to 50 wears for an Adhesive pair and 100+ for a Non-Adhesive pair. Fabric pasties, like our Satin Nipple Pasties, are disposable, and boob tape is single use per strip. If a silicone cover has stopped sticking, wash it before you replace it, because the adhesive is usually dirty rather than worn out.
Which nipple covers are reusable, and for how many wears?
| Product | Reusable? | Wears |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesive Nipple Covers | Yes | Up to 50 |
| Sensitive Adhesive and Sensitive Triangle | Yes | Up to 50 |
| Triangle Adhesive and Lifting covers | Yes | Up to 50 |
| Non-Adhesive, round and triangle | Yes | 100+ |
| Satin Nipple Pasties | No | One wear each |
| Boob Tape | The roll, not the strips | One wear per strip; 5 to 15 uses per roll, depending on your size and the look |
Buy once, wear again. Rinse, air-dry, repeat. That's true of the silicone only. Satin pasties and tape are made to be used up, and that's fine, because they do jobs a silicone cover can't.
Pasties vs silicone covers: what's the difference?
"Pasties" gets used for both, but they behave differently. Satin pasties are fabric with an adhesive back. They're thin and soft and made for one wear, which is why they're handy. There's nothing to wash, they're easy to keep in a bag, and they're the option if silicone itself irritates your skin. Silicone covers are thicker, matte and washable, with adhesive on the Adhesive versions and none at all on the Non-Adhesive pair, which holds with suction and body heat under fitted clothes.
How do you make nipple covers sticky again?
Wash them. A cover that's lost its hold has usually picked up lotion, sunscreen, sweat or towel lint, and soap and water takes that off so the tack underneath comes back.
- Wash both sides with warm water and a mild soap, using clean fingertips. No cloth, sponge or brush, since they leave fibers behind.
- Rinse until the water runs clear.
- Shake off the water. Don't towel it.
- Air-dry adhesive side up (skin side up for Non-Adhesive). Once dry, Adhesive covers go back on their clear backing; Non-Adhesive covers have no backing and go straight into the satin bag.
You'll see glue, double-sided tape or body adhesive suggested online. Skip them. Skip alcohol and wipes too, which strip the adhesive for good, and hot water, which damages silicone. If a clean, fully dry cover still won't hold on clean, dry skin, the adhesive is worn out and no trick will revive it. Our care guide has the full routine.
What counts as a wear?
Hours count as much as the number of wears. Adhesive wears down with every hour it's on skin, and sweat speeds that up, so a pair you save for dinners and events, a couple of hours at a time, can easily pass 50 wears. Wear the same pair all day, every day, or through sweaty workouts and it'll give up sooner.
How do you know it's time to replace them?
When a freshly washed, fully dry cover won't hold on clean, dry skin. Cloudy edges don't count. That's usually trapped residue, and a wash clears it. And don't throw out a worn-out Adhesive pair. It still works as a Non-Adhesive cover under a fitted top, a sports bra or a swimsuit, so it gets a second life doing that job.
When is a reusable cover the wrong pick?
If you won't wash them after every wear, the wear count won't happen, and a pack of satin pasties will serve you better. If silicone itself irritates your skin, fabric is the answer. And the Non-Adhesive pair's 100+ wears only count if your wardrobe suits it. It needs fitted clothing to stay put, so under a loose, flowy or backless outfit it will shift, and it never goes under boob tape, where it slides.
What we'd pick
-
Non-Adhesive Nipple CoversThe longest-lasting pair we make, at 100+ wears with no adhesive. Wrong pick for anything loose, flowy or backless, or under boob tape.
-
Adhesive Nipple CoversUp to 50 wears, and they hold under loose and backless outfits. Wrong pick if you won't wash them after every wear (take satin pasties) or for a low, square neckline (take a Triangle).
FAQ
Are pasties reusable?
It depends on the material. Silicone covers are, with a wash after every wear. Fabric pasties, including our Satin Nipple Pasties, are disposable, so wear them once and throw them away.
How many times can you wear silicone nipple covers?
Up to 50 wears for an Adhesive pair and 100+ for a Non-Adhesive pair, if you wash them after every wear. Short wears stretch that; long, sweaty, everyday wear shortens it.
How do you make pasties sticky again?
For silicone covers, wash both sides with warm water and a mild soap, rinse, and air-dry adhesive side up. That clears the lotion, sweat and lint sitting on the adhesive. Don't add glue or tape. Satin pasties can't be re-stuck.
Can you reuse boob tape?
Not a strip. Once it's off, it doesn't go back on. A roll usually covers 5 to 15 uses, depending on your size and the look.
Can I share nipple covers?
No. Adhesive covers are personal.
